Canada Blooms Preview Cocktail Reception

March 15, 2011

The opening night party for Canada Blooms has been an annual tradition right from the start. Originally the Gala was a black tie affair. Tickets were around $200 each and all of the accoutrements reflected this. At the reduced rate of $75, the event has relaxed a great deal. But this casual atmosphere doesn't prevent the participants from having a good time while enjoying a privileged advanced showing of the gardens and floral installations.

Along with the gardens, participants were treated to presentations from Cirque Du Soleil, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, and various horticultural celebrities.

As you can tell from the video and the photos below, there were quite a number of local celebrities (mostly television and political) that attended.

Charlie Dobbin, Carolyn Dawn Johnson (2011 Juno Nominee), & Colomba Fuller
Gerry Ginsberg, Mark Cullen, & Jeff Olsen
Jennifer Howe, Frank Ferragine (Breakfast Television) & Kristen McIntyre
Peter Kent (M.P. & Minister of the Environment). and Cilla Kent
Parmjit Parmar (Montana Ridge) & Steven Biggs (No Guff Vegetable Gardening)
Helen Battersby ( & Aldona Satterthwaite (Executive Director Toronto Botanical Garden)
Barbara & Authur Skolnick (Shibui Landscaping)

Anne Marie Mediwake (CBC News) & Darryl Konynenbelt (
