proven winners title

April 15, 2011

Looking back at this spring, I can see that it was a busy one.

I had the great pleasure to meet John Gaydos while he was in Toronto for the Proven Winners Plant Extravaganza. This is an event held annually in various cities around North America to promote the latest varieties of plant material available from Proven Winners.

The Toronto event was being held at he Angus Glen Conference Centre. It had 4 speakers lecturing, Mark Cullen, Beckie Fox, Paul Zammit, and John Gaydos. John Gaydos was the main attraction, coming in from Michigan to reveal and describe the annuals, perennials and shrubs that had passed the Proven Winners trials and were soon to be on the market.

I had the chance to shoot this short video with him after his lecture. In it he describes 3 of the new annuals, Anisodontea 'Slightly Strawberry', Coleus 'Alligator Tears' and Nemesia 'Sunsatia Lemon', that were available this spring.

(Viewers on certain mobile devices will be able to see this video now on Vimeo!)

The price to attend the party was a little steep at $85 per person, but it didn't seem to stop people from attending.

Proven Winners Outdoor Living Extravaganza

Hopefully they will choose to return to Toronto in the next couple of years.

Later that afternoon, I ran into a local Toronto celebrity, CTV weatherman Anwar Knight, broadcasting live from the Green Living Show at the Direct Energy Centre.
